This is one of those times of year that make dressing a joy. Layering allows for changeable weather but an increasing number of events mean it’s important to ensure flexibility in your clothes.
I am a HUGE fan of J Brand jeans (£185, The Outnet) for almost every occasion. They’re not cheap but frankly, when it comes to denim, whilst I think you can wear anything you want, at any age, I would certainly suggest you spend a little more if you want it to look nice.
I know people worry about straight legs, and bootcut is alleged to be on it’s way back, but honestly, drainpipes really are much kinder to most figure types.
Look for a mid-rise to ensure you don’t get the dreaded muffin top, and tuck into boots if you’re worried about calves.
For day, team with a gorgeous boyfriend blazer, like this satin backed option from Phase Eight (£63.20. John Lewis).
I’d wrap a gorgeous tartan blanket like this fab one (£30, She Leaves A Little Sparkle) or the one I’m wearing below (First Edit, Brighton) and finish with these stunning silver brogues (£295, Isabella Carla from Clarks Edit).
For night, I’m beyond loving this Alice and Olivia sequin jacket (£225). I love a waterfall line to elongate and provide coverage for the areas many of us, like me dislike (hello, upper arms).
I do like long boots in the winter and they look incredibly glamorous at any age or size. These grey suede ones are from Stuart Weitzman (Saks 5th Avenue, £650) but Dune and Boohoo both have affordable alternatives.
Finally, to accessorise this seasons must-have choker in jet black (£20, Debenhams) is a quick way to glam up.
Go Nowhere Without: This beautiful beaded Jenny Packham Clutch, £45 (or the one below from Motto in Brighton)
